The Old Testament in the British Museum
Currently no tours
Matt Hornby will give us a tour of the British Museum from
a biblical perspective.
We'll be looking at items from Israel, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, and Sumeria.
The aim is twofold:
- To see how archaeology confirms the historical accuracy of the Bible
- To get more of an idea of the culture in which the Old Testament was written

Where and When
to Meet
We will meet at 3pm sharp in the Great Court by the Statue of a Man on a Horse (
on map). The tour will last approx 1½ hour.
Matt Hornby
Matt Hornby read history at Downing College, Cambridge and has led guided tours of British Museum since 2000. He has recently completed the 2yr Associate Scheme at St Helen’s Church, Bishopsgate, which seeks to train young men and women in Christian ministry. Matt is currently working for St Botolph’s, Aldersgate, helping to equip Christians for ministry in their places of work. Matt is also involved with teaching the ‘Bible Overview’ course at St Helen’s Church.
